NSCI SISTERHOOD

Third Annual NSCI Sisterhood Women's Retreat

Founded in 1925, Sisterhood is a strong and active organization. We warmly welcome the participation of women of all ages, and appreciate varied time commitments, lifestyles and interests.

NSCI Sisterhood is affiliated regionally with Midwest Federation of Temple Sisterhoods (MFTS) and nationally with Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ).

Our members participate in congregational life in a variety of ways. Spiritual and educational programming includes our Women’s Seder, book discussion groups, a Shabbaton, trips to various exhibits and cultural events in the community, and future plans for a Rosh Chodesh group and a "Spa and Spirituality" retreat.

The Sisterhood is an integral part of our pre-school, religious school, youth activities, and social action endeavors. We are responsible for Oneg Shabbat refreshments and also provide gifts for our B’nai Mitzvah and Confirmation students. A dedicated group of our volunteers provide lunch and entertainment weekly to our North Shore Seniors.

We support community efforts such as SHALVA, the Ark, the Council for Jewish Elderly and Olin- Sang-Ruby Union Institute. Through WRJ we support HUC-JIR (educating our rabbis, cantors and educators), ARZA (Association of Reform Zionists of America), the Jewish Braille Institute, and the World Union of Progressive Judaism (Reform Judaism in Israel and throughout the world).

Our Judaica Gift Shop, specializing in Judaica for all occasions and featuring items made in Israel, is also able to meet all your invitation, printing and party needs. It is open Sunday-Thursday. Call (847) 835-0885 for hours or appointments.

Tribute cards (minimum donation $5.00), prayer books ($20.00) and Torah Commentaries ($50.00) are available by calling the Synagogue and leave a message for Susan Sak.

All women are urged to become members of our Sisterhood. We need your membership in order to continue and expand all our efforts.
