May Mitzvah Palooza 2024
May Mitzvah–Palooza!
Sunday, May 5th, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm (times vary per program)
Join us for a day of giving back!
We are hosting several community service projects at NSCI, as we close the religious school year and head toward summer.
Come by and do a good deed, learn about NSCI’s Tikkun Olam projects, and meet someone new!
We hope to see you there!
Operation Backpack Drop-Off Event
Sunday, May 5th, 8:30 am – 1:00 pm at NSCI
For 20 years, NSCI has partnered with the Jordan Community School, a high-need elementary school in Rogers Park, to provide their 500 students with the school supplies they need to have a successful school year. Join us on May 5th to support this important initiative: drop off school supplies, schmooze, and connect to the community. Visit the Operation Backpack Sign-up Genius to sign up to purchase supplies for grades K–2, 3–5, 6–8. We hope to see you on May 5th! More info here.
To make a donation that will go directly toward the purchase of additional supplies, visit this link and scroll down to the Operation Backpack Fund under “Type.”
11:30 am – 2:30 pm
Volunteer on one Sunday a month for hot food prep and brown bag lunches and/or make sandwiches one Wednesday a month (25 or more) at your home for delivery to the Night Ministry. For those interested in a larger mitzvah project, perhaps as part of a b’nei mitzvah celebration or other family simcha’s, you may sign up to make as many as the full 125! Families are welcome.
Each spring through fall, NSCI volunteers and staff lovingly grow hundreds of pounds of fresh produce that is all donated to the Moraine Township Food Pantry and The Ark Northwest, ensuring that our neighbors in need have access to fresh produce to eat. Click here to contact Bob Levy to volunteer.
